Can they make a run for a repeat?

The Chicago Blackhawks have a very talented roster, despite a plethora of cost-cutting moves after winning the Stanley Cup last season. Loaded with potential fantasy hockey studs, hopefully the new shakeup will aid both the Blackhawks and fantasy owners.

Surging

Marian Hossa has been a point machine for the Hawks in the early going. Adding his name to the MVP list through the first few weeks of the season, Hossa leads the Hawks with 11 points.

Coach Joe Quenneville announced Tuesday that the Hawks will have new lines, beginning with their upcoming game against the Los Angeles Kings. Tomas Kopecky and Troy Brouwer will join Hossa on his line. Owners shouldn’t be worried about Hossa’s production, as he’s a near lock every season.

Patrick Sharp moves to the first line joining Jack Skille and Jonathon Toews. Sharp has now switched lines a few times this season, but has had no problem staying productive, leading the Hawks with eight goals.

Struggling

When you think of the Blackhawks Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews come to mind. These two have had a surprisingly slow start to the season, and fantasy hockey owners would like to start seeing a better return on investment.

Kane’s struggles have forced a move him to the third line with Viktor Stalberg and Dave Bolland. Kane won’t spend much time there, and can move back to his original line with stronger play.

Toews got off to a hot start last season, and continued his stellar play throughout the year, culminating with a championship. However, if the Blackhawks hope to make any sort of noise again this season, they’re going to need to receive increased play from the youngster.
